We meet at Lloyd Park every Sunday, in the spring/summer (April to October) outdoors on Aveling Fields near the green gym area, weather permitting, 10am – 11am.

During autumn/winter (October to March), we move indoors to the Community Rm in Lloyd Park, directly behind the Le Delice Cafe, and across Winn’s Gallery.

This class is taught by Aaron Whitaker and is dedicated to learning and practising Chen-style Tai Chi hand forms (first, second and third forms as well as competition form) for the first hour. Afterwards, there is a 30-minute weapons class, focused on Chen-style tai chi swords and staff as well as Wudang sword form.

The cost is £25 per month, which gives access to all classes, or £7 drop-in. For full details, please see join Dao Lu.

Clothing – flexible and weather-appropriate. Our uniform is a Dao Lu T-shirt (white or red) and black jogging trousers (or similar), if possible. This is also required for performance or grading.

Footwear – plimsolls or lightweight trainers.

Here’s a couple of videos of us doing “first form” (once in lines, once as a circle):

This class was originally “Senior Tai Chi Corner” – for persons of 50 years and above, of all abilities. This community project was the winner of Waltham Forest Physical Activity and Health Project Award 2013. You can read more about the award here.
