Senior Tai Chi Corner (over 50s): Sundays, 9.30am

Beginners’ Tai Chi Corner: Sundays 11.30am

Senior Tai Chi Corner is for persons of 50 years and above, of all abilities. Let us know if you have access or other needs. This community project was the winner of Waltham Forest Physical Activity and Health Project Award 2013. You can read more about the award here.

We meet at Lloyd Park every Sunday, in the spring/summer (April to October) outdoors on Aveling Fields near the green gym area, weather permitting:

During the autumn/winter (November to March) we move indoors in the Bowls Community Pavilion (or on the patio in good weather):

We have a Senior Tai Chi Corner poster (PDF) if you would like to print it out and/or help display it at places you think many other people over 50 may be interested in Tai Chi training and benefiting from this wonderful ancient Chinese art.

Beginners welcome. If you have any queries, feel free to contact us.

The cost is £25 per month, which gives access to all classes, or £7 drop-in. For full details, please see join Dao Lu.

Clothing – flexible and weather-appropriate. Our uniform is a Dao Lu T-shirt (white or red) and black jogging trousers (or similar), if possible. This is also required for performance or grading.

Footwear – plimsolls or lightweight trainers.

Many students at the intermediate level are starting to train with weapons such as Broad Sword. Please read the instructions carefully in your Dao Lu license (if you paid your annual student fee) about how to use weapons with care and be aware of others around you. Basic rules include always carrying weapons in appropriate bags; do not use weapons in public places without permission; carrying your Dao Lu license with you at all times when you train particularly when you have weapons with you; do not use damaged weapons.
