July 14, 2025 by Jane Walker

Health Qigong for the Community – Taiji Stick Qigong Mondays

1 pm – 2 pm at All Saints Church, 184 Old Church Road, Chingford E4 8BU

NEW THIS YEAR – starting Monday 13th April 2026
Learn Taiji Yangsheng Zhang (Taiji Stick Qigong)

No prior experience needed.

Sticks are among the first tools used by human beings. In China’s traditional health culture, it has long been a practice to exercise with an instrument like a stick.

This form is a gentle Chinese health practice combining breath, movement, and a 110-125 cm stick to improve circulation, balance yin/yang and relax muscles. It involves 8 slow, flowing, choreographed movements, often focusing on waist rotation and spinal flexibility. It is excellent for improving mobility in the shoulders and back.

The key points for general practice are:
1. The stick guides coordination of the body and spirit
2. The waist functions as a pivot to harmonise the body and stick
3. Relationship of stick movement and massage
4. Rotating the stick
5. Hands and stick are integrated into one

During the Spring, Summer and early Autumn come and join us.

Please wear loose clothing, appropriate to the weather, trainers or plimsolls, and bring water for hydration.

The first session is free, then a monthly fee of £25, which gives access to all Dao Lu classes, or £7 drop-in. For full details, please see join Dao Lu.
