Festival of Tai Chi – 21 March

April 1, 2026 by Marwin Melendez

For the first time in the borough, Dao Lu celebrated UNESCO International Tai Chi Day on 21 March at the Leyton Sports Ground with a Festival of Tai Chi, 1:00m- 4:30pm. Some 70 people attended the event, which featured three separate sessions of simultaneous short tasters of Qi Gong (Ba Duan Jin and seated Daoyin 12), Basic Tai Chi movements (Chen-style and Yang-style), and for the first time, Acupressure Massage, Basic Tai Chi Fan movements and Basic tai chi sword movements. There was also an origami art table for children and adults alike.

The event was supported by Waltham Forest Council as part of the Never in a Million Years campaign to encourage more residents of the borough to take part in physical activities.
