Here’s how to register students who’ve attended a class, using the App.
In a browser, go to app.daolu.co.uk
That is, change the “www” to “app”.
On a desktop PC, you should see something like:
Just a blank screen with “Register” and “Login” in the top left.
On a mobile, it’s the same, but you get a “hamburger” menu to reveal the to menu choices:
If you click on the “hamburger” menu you’ll see the menu options:
From now on, I’ll assume you’re using a laptop PC or tablet – i.e. a wide screen. It’s exactly the same on a mobile.
If you don’t see the above, but have more choices in the menu, then you are already logged in, and it remembered you (it sets a cookie to do this).
The “Register” item on the menu is the same page you go to from the website www.daolu.co.uk/join where people register their details. As login is not required, it’s available without logging in.
Click on the “Login” item in the menu and you’ll see:
Then enter your name or Email and your password.
The password has been sent securely, e.g. by WhatsApp or SMS (email is not secure).
Although it says “Email” you can use your short name, e.g. “elaine” if you prefer
When logged in, you will see this (for Elaine’s case):
This is actually the “User” page, where you can change your email, password, etc.
I think I made a mistake here in that it’s not easy to get to this page (not in the menu), at least for volunteers.
Also, I heard some felt they had not logged in as the page offers the chance to change password, e.g. looks like a “forgotten password?” page. Oops! I simply didn’t know the most suitable page to go to after logging in, and chose the user’s profile.
As a volunteer, Elaine can see all the classes but not edit them; can create a new session but not see or edit previous sessions. The idea is volunteers can enter create the session they are currently at. Here’s a screenshot, note the date is automatically set to today:
So, in this case, Eileen might select Joe’s Stretches, which were on 14th September. Note there’s a calendar button at the end, for ease of entering the date. You can also just click on the date and type it in. Note the exact behaviour depends on the browser you are using.
Click on the “Add student” dropdown and you can seen an alphabetical list of all students. Click on one and then the button “Add”.
I plan to make this easier by having the previous week’s students at the top. Already, you might notice, students already added are greyed out.
If you make a mistake, you can remove the student but clicking on the red “Remove” button.
That’s it – at any time, simply leave the page if you are happy to remain logged in, or log off manually. If you remain logged in, you’ll be logged out after about 6 months. Security then relies on the security of you logging into your phone. If your phone is set to login automatically (very insecure, not recommended, as if someone steals your phone they can wreak havoc with email, WhatsApp etc) please log off manually from this app.
If you simply close the browser, or go elsewhere, without logging off, it will remember that you are
If your phone does not require logging in, or if you wish to log off manually, you can do so by clicking on the “Logout” button on the menu.
This will take you to the login page:
And there you go, all finished!
Directors see a little more though.
They can see all students, see what sessions they attended and edit the student’s info:
They can see all previous sessions and edit them if necessary (e.g. mistakes):
To create a new session, simply click in “Create”, as before.
The next item for directors is “Reports” which generates a set of reports useful for comparing classes etc.
