Following a successful Mayor of London Lotus Tai Chi for Women in Chingford project in September and October 2015, Dao Lu has been again awarded a grant by the Mayor of London FreeSport Winter 2016!

This time we are bringing a new project, Barking Breeze: Tai Chi for Women, into London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, where the number of children and young people under 18 is the highest compared with all other London Boroughs. Many local women and/or mums were looking for suitable physical activities. This project aims to introduce Tai Chi to local women in Barking and Dagenham working in partnership with Al Madina Mosque.

  • Saturdays 14.00 – 15.15
  • From 23rd January to 19th March 2016
  • No session on 20th February (half term)
  • Total 8 sessions, FREE
  • At the Al Madina Mosque and Centre, 2 Victoria Road, Barking, Essex IG11 8PY

To book, please use the contact form

Opposite the venue, Al Madina Mosque and Centre, is the Ilford Lane entrance to Barking Park. Barking Park was established in 1896, covering just under 30 hectares to the east of Barking Town Centre. The venue is 10 minutes walk from Barking Station with a beautiful view to the Park. We’d like to say a big thank you to a group of local Muslim women who approached Dao Lu about practicing Tai Chi in Barking and recommended this venue.

A PDF of the Barking Breeze poster is available here if you would like to print out a copy of the project.

Sunday 13th December 2015, 4.30-5pm at Pimp Hall Nature Reserve, next to Chingford Recycle Centre, off Kings Road, Chingford, London E4 7HR

Hornbeam Christmas Fayre is from 3 – 7pm, our performance should be 4.30 – 5pm.

Meeting point – We will meet at 3.45pm in front of the Learning Lodge to go through the routine as this will be the only time that everyone across different sessions will be meeting together for a final rehearsal. We also need lots of volunteers to help man the site for safety while students are performing with weapons etc. So the more students who can come along, the better!

Clothing and other essentials – please wear Tai Chi uniform and/or Dao Lu T-shirt and black trousers. Please bring layers and winter coats/hats/gloves to help keep warm. If you carry weapons, please keep them in your weapon carrier bag at all times with your Dao Lu licence for security checks.

Rehearsals – You must attend the rehearsals in your classes and a final rehearsal at 9.30-10.30am on the day in Lloyd Park Pavilion during the Senior Tai Chi Corner session. Please arrive at 3.45pm promptly at the site for briefing and familiarising with the site etc.
